Site for YC3 - art sites gallery and grounds - Opening May 2nd, 2009

These photographs were taken in January 2009 at art sites gallery, the site for YC3 (Yurt city 3). Installation begins at the end of April. We invite you to check in regularly to see this 2 acre wet land site transformed by YC3. Currently there are 8 artists installing various yurt/tent and hand build structure/interventions in time for the opening. This project, not unlike any community of individuals and structures is not static and will grow (literally) and shift over the 5 month duration of the exhibition. Additional artists will be "moving in" over the summer. This summer you are cordially invited to visit YC3 and see how this community will grow and change. Final Weekend of Yurt City II - FLOAT 2007 Socrates Sculpture Park

Final weekend of Float 2007 was a hot one. Sunday was a perfect day. The park officially recorded over 1900 visitors on that final day, thanks in part to a great performance by the Fiery Furnaces.

August 2007 - Claiming our site and first day of the Installation in the pouring cold rain

Laura, Ted and Sheila meet in the rain in late July to select site for Yurt City II. A few weeks later, on August 10th, 2007, on an even worse rainy and freezing cold day, Yurt City participants began the first day of two long days of installing Yurt City II.
